Amanda Mattsson

Amanda has 15+ years experience with children ages newborn-age 5yrs. With a degree in Early Childhood Management she uses her knowledge and skills to help children and staff meet their full potential. She grew up with a love of young children and the passion they have for life. Children thrive through the wonders of imagination and creativity and that is important at Melrose. Educating children and families on Reggio Emilia and Conscious Discipline has been an important role at Melrose. While everyone is always growing, learning and changing, it is important for Amanda to be doing the same. Owning a Pre-School is hard work and Amanda takes much pride in what has been created. During her 'downtime' Amanda enjoys time with her little family of 4... husband, son and sweet dachshund, Hank. They enjoy vising parks around the city for nature walks. She can’t pass up a delicious lavender latte from a local coffee shop and a quick solo trip to Target.

Amanda Mattsson and Patti Moody cofounded Melrose to give Jacksonville a preschool that looks outside the box and gives young children a chance to PLAY again.

This women owned company wants to bring a non-traditional education to a city they love.

They work hard to spread acceptance, kindness and diversity to the community.

Patti Moody

Patti has been passionate about Early Childhood Education for almost four decades.  After teaching preschool with someone else’s philosophies for so many years, she knew a school with the Reggio Emilia Approach was what she truly believed in.  To allow children to have a voice and participate in their own educational direction has been what Patti hopes to advocate for all children.  Adding to this, is her belief in Conscious Discipline.  As an avid practitioner of this philosophy, Patti continues to hone her skills to help children self regulate and develop social-emotional skills for life.  When not involved in the day-to-day activity at Melrose, Patti volunteers for a non profit organization that supports adults with autism and special needs.  Down time involves travel, the beach, pool time, reading and cooking. Special time is spent with husband, adult children, grandchildren and two pups!
